Yes! We have made a commitment, as part of our travel action plan, to include electric car charging points at both Kingsway Hospital and the Chesterfield Royal site.

Firstly, we will look to colleagues to gather preferences of service areas, location and any training that may be required. We value our workforce and the incredible skills that we have in Team Derbyshire Healthcare, and want to ensure that these skills are developed and utilised for everybody’s benefit.

We then have recruitment plans which include increased nurse apprenticeship training, new targeted advertising campaigns and developing stronger links with schools, colleges and universities. We appreciate the need to recruit to new roles earlier to allow for training and team development.

The plans for the new mental health facilities include a communal space for service users in which there will be vending machines and a pool table.

Yes!  All wards will have access to outdoor gym equipment and gardening therapy space. There will be communal areas for sport activities, such a football and also an indoor gym.

Using feedback from colleagues, we are looking to develop a number of walking routes throughout the Kingsway Hospital site for the benefit of our service users.

The PICU can be accessed from the adult acute male wards to enable a fast response, which is a discreet entrance. There will also be a discreet entrance into the seclusion room which can be used when admitting service users from the north of the county.

Every new bathroom will have space for hoists and safety equipment. There will be the availability of level access showers, increased toilet space and an increase in the number of hi-lo beds. The new mental health facilities will be purpose built to allow for better access in bedrooms and bathrooms, with plenty of space for movement. Each ward will have large equipment stores with plug sockets and additional storage for linen and PPE

Whilst there will be no seclusion rooms on the Older Adult Wards in Northern Derbyshire, we are looking to include de-escalation suites on both male and female wards and there will also be sensory rooms available.

This is something we will work on with colleagues at the Hartington Unit and Chesterfield Royal Hospital, to agree a model which best suits the requirements of our staff and service users.

Currently Prometheus is contracted to provide secure transport services, and EMAS for non-secure transport.  There is no plan at this stage to change this, but it will be looked at and discussed to ascertain whether this service will still best suit requirements. 

At the moment the plan is to relocate only the wards from the Hartington Unit to the new building. We have retained 40% of existing space at the Hartington Unit which we intend to utilise for non-ward-based colleagues.

The ward space will become part of the Chesterfield Royal Hospital estate for their utilisation.

Space has been allotted in the new building for the Mental Health Act Team. We intend to work with the team to ensure the space is suitable.

The current plan is for the Crisis Team to remain at the Hartington Unit.

The Hub will remain, but the provision will be shared across both sites – Radbourne Unit and Kingsway Hospital. We will engage with staff currently working at the Hub to gather ideas on how this will best work for them and service users, we will then devise a model together. The staffing will likely be increased to accommodate the two sites.

There will be one seclusion suite, two rooms as there is at present, and it will remain on ward 32.

There will be a decrease in the number of parking spaces available. However, using the data from our traffic and parking surveys we are confident that we have capacity to absorb parking requirements for the new mental health facilities.

Due to safety issues, we cannot create any new exits or entrances to the site. However, we are increasing the width of our entrance into the main car park to allow for easier access.  We are also ensuring that all building related vehicles, not needed on site, are parked to the rear of the Kedleston Unit to avoid congestion within our car parks.

Yes, there will be no loss of car parking spaces at the Radbourne Unit.

We intend to provide a shuttle bus service running between the Radbourne Unit and Kingsway Hospital so colleagues have flexibility with parking.

This is something we are in the process of deciding with colleagues.

The gender split is based on what could be achieved for bed numbers within the funding allocation. However, we do recognise the importance of the integration of gender groups, where appropriate, for socialisation and therapy. Kingsway Hospital will have a good mix of gender groups across the site and we aim to provide a bus shuttle service, available to staff, service users and carers to enable mixed activities between the Radbourne Unit and Kingsway Hospital.

We will look to colleagues to guide the project team on how best to provide therapy services across the Radbourne Unit and Kingsway Hospital, which best fits the needs of staff and service users. We do plan to increase staffing for a cross-site service.
