Clinical Psychologist and Trust colleague Dr Kirsty Williams, who is b
ased within the cancer service at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, has won the compassion award at UHDB’s Making a Difference awards.
Kirsty, who works as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist in Oncology and Palliative Care Medicine at Royal Derby Hospital, picked up the award at a ceremony at the Pirelli Stadium in Burton.
She is pictured with TV weatherman and former EastEnders actor Des Coleman and UHDB Director of Nursing Jim Murray.
Kirsty was shortlisted for tirelessly going “above and beyond to support all who cross her path”.
In addition to helping cancer patients with any mental health issues brought on by the threat to their health, she also provides support for staff, both individually and within groups, and helps organise Mindfulness Courses run annually in the Royal Derby Hospital’s Macmillan Cancer Information Centre.
The numerous cards and positive feedback received from patients clearly show that positive impact she’s had on their lives, with one labelling Kirsty the “kindest and most understanding lady I have met”.
