Mental Health Together is trying to find out about the barriers that stop people accessing talking therapies, also known as IAPT services. Potentially anyone with low-level mental health issues can access IAPT - Improving Access to Psychological Therapies. The programme was designed to promote faster access for people with depression and anxiety disorders to talking therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
IAPT services are free, confidential, and available to people over 16 who are registered with a GP.
The Derbyshire IAPT services are due for recommissioning in 2020 and the commissioners want a new model, one which is more locality based and provides fairer access for those most in need.
