Ifti Majid, Chief Executive at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, has been named on a list of 20 people and organisations who “could and should” exert influence over national health policy over the forthcoming year.
Ifti appears on the 20-strong list, compiled by the HSJ (Health Sector Journal), in recognition of his efforts to promote staff wellbeing and welfare within Derbyshire Healthcare and the wider NHS.
Ifti, who is Co-Chair of NHS Confederation’s BME Leadership Network and Chair of NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network in addition to his role at Derbyshire Healthcare, is singled out by the HSJ in part for the way he sent over 3,000 handwritten Christmas cards to colleagues to thank them for the role they played during the pandemic, as part of a reward and recognition scheme that has been shortlisted for national awards.
Ifti said: “Leaders are only as good as the team of people around them, but I’m pleased that the HSJ has recognised the importance of NHS workers’ health and wellbeing on this list.
“Our NHS colleagues deserve to be supported and rewarded for their persistence, especially during what has been, and continues to be, a challenging time for us all.
“By giving colleagues our support and ensuring they are healthy and well at work, the public will benefit through even higher standards of care.”
The list has been published by the HSJ as part of their annual ‘HSJ100’ report. Ifti has previously been named in the HSJ’s top 50 most influential BAME people in health in the UK for his work as co-chair of the national NHS BME Leadership Network.
